Early Life:  

Taylor Swift was born on December 13, 1989, in West Reading, Pennsylvania. She grew up in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, and participated in musical theater as a kid. Inspired by female country music idols Shania Twain and Faith Hill, Swift traveled to Nashville, Tennessee, to seek a career in the genre.  She visited record labels in Nashville when she was 11 years old but was first turned down. Swift began working with a talent manager at age 13 and picked up a guitar at age 12. In 2005, she received her first record deal and started work on her debut album. She started her first headlining tour after finishing the recording of her second album, Fearless, which brought in $63 million. 

Family:

The Taylor Swift family is compact and close-knit. Her mother, Andrea, previously worked as a mutual fund marketing executive, and her father, Scott, used to be a stockbroker.
