Catherine Elise Blanchett is an Australian actress known for his multi-dimensional and versatile roles. She is regarded as one of the best actresses of her generation. She is famous for her blonde hair and blue eyes.  She has been nominated for many accolades and won two Academy awards for his roles as a supporting actress and leading role. She has also received numerous honorary awards.

Blanchett began her career on the Australian stage. She became prominent internationally after portraying the role of Elizabeth in the drama film Elizabeth I. She has performed in more than 20 stage productions. She made her Broadway debut in 2017 through the movie The Present. She received a Tony Award For Best Actress nomination for her first movie on Broadway. She is on the list of 100 influential people by Time magazine in 2007. Early Life:

Catherine Elise Blanchett was born on May 14, 1969, in the Ivanhoe suburb of Melbourne. Her Australian mother, June was a property developer, and her father, Robert DeWitt Blanchett was an advertising executive. When Blanchett was ten, her father died of a heart attack. She was raised by her mother. Blanchett described herself as an extrovert child.

Education:

She attended primary school in Melbourne at Ivanhoe East Primary School. She got secondary education from Ivanhoe Girl’s Grammar School and Methodist Ladies ‘College. She explored her passion for arts at College. She studied economics and fine arts at the University of Melbourne but dropped out after one year. She moved to Sydney to attend the National Institute of Dramatic Art graduating in 1992 with a Bachelor Of Fine Arts.

Career:

In her teenage, she worked in a nursing home in Victoria. Blanchett’s first stage role was in the play Oleanna for the Sydney Theater Company in 1992. She also appeared in the 50-minutes drama short Parklands.  She also appeared in many miniseries on TV.

 Blanchett made her first film debut by playing a supporting role of a nurse in the film Paradise Road. In 1997, Blanchett has been recognized in Australia. In 1995, she was nominated for Best Female Performance by the Melbourne Green Awards.

As An Actress:

Blanchett was known for her multi-dimensional characters and wide range of roles. She appeared in films that covered many genres and characters, securing her reputation as a versatile actress. She is praised for her emotional expressions. 

She received her first Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in 2005 for her portrayal of Katherine Hepburn in The Aviator.  Blanchett made her Broadway debut in 2017. Blanchett’s best movie Blue Jasmine was considered the finest movie of her career.

Personal Life:

She and her husband Andrew Upton were the artistic directors of Sydney.Theatre Company from 2008 to 2013. They met in Australia in the 1990s and married on 29 December 1997. The couple had three sons and they adopted a daughter Edith Vivian Patricia Upton in 2015.

Activism:

Blanchett was the first ambassador of the Australian Film Institute since 2001. She is also a patron of the Sydney Film Festival.  In 2018, she became the first beauty ambassador for Armani representing the company globally.
