William Clark Gable was an American actor who is known as the ‘King of Hollywood’. He has appeared in more than 60 movies. His career spanned more than three decades. He is best remembered for his role as Rhett Butler in the movie Gone With The Wind. He made his film debut in the silent film The Painted Desert in 1931. In addition to this movie, he appeared in many notable movies like It Happened One Night, Mutiny On The Bounty, and Mogambo.

Early Life:
William Clark Gable was born on February 01, 1901, in Cadiz, Ohio. His father, William Henry “Will” Gable, was an oil well driller. Her mother was Adeline. Gable was named William after his father but was always called Clark. His mother died when his age was 10 months. His father sent him to his maternal aunt and uncle, where he lived until he was 2.
In April 1903, his father married Jennie Dunlap. His stepmother raised him well, and he became well-dressed and well-groomed. She played piano and gave him lessons at home. Gable loved to repair cars with his father. Gable also liked literature. His family moved to Palmyra, Township near Akron, Ohio, in 1917. His father insisted Gable work on his farm, but he left to work in Akron.
Relationship:
Gable married to her acting coach and manager Josephine Dhillon in 1924 and divorced in 1930. His second wife was a Texas socialite Maria Franklin Prentiss Lucas Langham. The couple divorced on March 7, 1939. Gable married comedic actress Carole Lombard, but she died in a plane crash. In 1949 he married Sylvia Ashley, a British model, and actress. The couple got separated in 1952. In 1955 Gable married Kay Spreckels. Clark Gable had a total of five spouses throughout his life.

Career:
At a young age of 16, Gable made the decision to quit school and started working in a tire factory, and decided to become an actor after seeing the play The Bird Of Paradise. But he was unable to start acting at the young age of 21. His first big break came he was cast in the lead of the Broadway play Machinal.
Military Career:
In 1942, Gable joined the United States Army, under the Army Air Forces. Gable expressed an earlier interest in Officer candidate school with the intention of becoming an aerial gunner. He completed his training and was commissioned as the second Lieutenant. In 1943, he was promoted to captain.
As An Actor:
Josephine Dillon was a theater manager in Portland. She taught him better body control and posture. Gable and Dhillon traveled to Hollywood in 1924. He appeared in a series of two-reel comedies called The Pacemakers. He received good reviews in Machinal. In 1930, he showed an impressive performance in The Last Mile.
