Henry Fonda was an American actor whose career spanned over five decades on Broadway and in Hollywood. He is well known for his deep blue eyes. Fonda often starred in robust, defensive, and heroic roles. He was famous for his solid and commanding voice. UK magazine ranked him #95 on the list of 100 greatest movie stars. Fonda was the oldest actor to receive an Oscar; his age was 70. Henry was known as a ladies’ man as he had affairs with many actresses. He was fond of making planes and kites. 

Entertainment Weekly voted him the 29th greatest star of Hollywood. Henry was  Named the #6 greatest actor on The 50 Greatest Screen Legends by the American Film Institute. Henry receives many accolades, including Academy Awards and the BAFTA award for Best Foreign Actor. In 1947, Henry Fonda Won a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Performance in Clarence Darrow. He was a member of the Hollywood democratic committee in the 1930s. Henry made his film debut in 1935 and gained stardom with his performances in the movies like Jesse James, Jezebel, and The Grapes Of Wrath. Henry died on August 12, 1982, at the age of 77.

Early Life:

Henry Jaynes Fonda was born on May 16, 1905, in Grand Islands, Nebraska, United States, to William Brace Fonda and Hebert. His father was the owner of a printing plant. Fonda was raised as a Christian, but later he became an agonist. As a child, Honda was a shy guy, but he had an interest in boys scouts. He was a good swimmer, runner, and skater. He usually didn’t talk to girls except for his sisters. Fonda helped his father at a printing plant and later worked at the local phone company after completing school.

Education:

Fonda completed his school and wanted to be a journalist in the future. He attended the University of Minnesota and majored in journalism, but he did not complete his graduation. In the university, he was a member of Chi Delta Xi.

Personal Life:

Henry Fonda married five times during his life. He was famous for his affairs with other actresses. He married actress Margaret Sullavan in 1931, and the couple eventually divorced in 1933. 

In 1936, Fonda married his second wife Frances Ford Seymour Brokaw. They had two children, Jane and Peter, together, and both of the children became major award-winning actors later. Fonda and Brokaw had a troubled marriage, and in early 1950, Seymour was admitted to a psychiatric hospital for treatment. She attempted suicide in the hospital.

Fonda married his mistress Susan Blanchard, with whom he adopted a daughter named Amy. The couple divorced in 1956. The next year, Fonda married Italian baroness Afdera Franchetti. They divorced in 1961

Fonda married his wife, Shirlee Mae Adams, in 1965. They remained together until Fonda’s death.

At 20, Fonda started his career on stage at Omaha Community Playhouse. He appeared in You And I and Merton Of Movies. He learned a lot while working on stage. In 1928, Fonda quit his stage job and moved to Cape Cod to try his fortune. From there, he moved to New York. There he worked in Broadway Theatrical Production.

In 1935, Fonda made his debut in Hollywood with the adaptation of the movie The Farmer Takes A Wife. He starred in different roles in the movies Jezebel, You Only Live Once, Jesse James, etc.

Military Career:

Fond was enlisted in United States Navy during World War II. He served there for three years, and he was awarded by Navy Presidential Unit Citation and Bronze Star Medal. He was then discharged from the Navy for being Over Aged.
