Mary Louise Meryl Streep was born on June 22, 1943, in Summit, New Jersey. She was the daughter of artist Mary Wilionkson Streep and her father Harry William Streep Jr. was a pharmaceutical executive. Her father was of German and Swiss descent while her mother belonged of English, German, and Irish ancestry.
Streep’s mother encouraged her and instilled confidence in her at a very young age. Her mother was her mentor and guided her throughout her career.

Meryl Streep attended Cedar Hill Elementary School and Oak Street School. In 1963, her family moved to Bernardsville, New Jersey. Here, she got admission to Bernards High School. After graduation, she was enrolled in the Yale School of Drama.
