1994–2006: Joining NDTV
He moved to NDTV in May 1994 and stayed for over two decades. He covered the Siachen and Kargil conflicts and several years of insurgency in Kashmir. He also obtained exclusive footage of army camps at the Saltoro Heights in Siachen.

Controversies and Legal Cases
Both matters below involve NDTV during his time as an executive. Neither was an allegation about his journalism.
CBI FDI Case (2019)
In August 2019 the CBI registered an FIR against NDTV promoters Prannoy Roy and Radhika Roy, Chandra (then CEO) and unidentified officials. The charges were criminal conspiracy, cheating and corruption, tied to foreign investment in NDTV subsidiaries between 2007 and 2009. The CBI also searched Chandra’s residence. NDTV denied the allegations and described the case as part of the persecution of the free press. Chandra said he appeared to have been named by mistake.
SEBI Insider Trading Case (2020–2023)
In November 2020, SEBI barred Chandra from the securities market for one year and ordered him to disgorge Rs 6.67 lakh with interest. The Securities Appellate Tribunal (SAT) stayed the order in December 2020 on condition that he deposit Rs 3.5 lakh.
In October 2023, SAT quashed the part of the order tied to one set of price-sensitive information. It sent the part tied to another set (PSI-3) back to SEBI for reconsideration.
