Anh Do is an Australian actor, comedian, author, and painter. He has played different roles on Australian TV shows such as Good News Week and Thank God You’re Here and was runner-up on Dancing with the Stars in 2007. As an actor, he has appeared in Australian TV favorites such as All Saints, Seachange,  and Pizza. He has also appeared in the movie Footy Legends, and in 2003, he was the co-producer of The Finished People, which Margaret Pomeranz described as ‘one of the best Australian films of the year.’ 

Anh has written many books, including the nationally best-selling Weir Do and Hotdog series for children. Now, Anh  Do has been exploring his art skills. He created Anh’s Brush with Fame for ABC, a program in 2017 in which Anh collaborates and asks questions from a celebrity while painting their picture. The show has received remarkable success and continues, now it is the fourth season, to this day. He was also nominated for the Archibald Prize and won the People’s Choice award in 2017.

Early Life:

Anh Do and his family migrated to Australia as refugees in 1980. Anh and his family arrived in Australia when Anh was just three on a small fishing boat packed with 47 other Vietnamese refugees. Having survived dehydration, pirate attacks, and internment in a Malaysian refugee camp, young Anh overcame this adversity with a determination to make the most out of life. No one had any idea, including Anh himself, that he would go on to become one of Australia’s best-loved entertainers.

Anh attended St Aloysius’ College in Milsons Point for his secondary education. Anh started a small business breeding tropical fish when he was only 14. While studying his first year of law at the University of Technology, Sydney, Anh was the owner of a stall that sold American Indian artifacts. He later expanded his business to four franchised stores.


After finishing his double degree and with multiple offers from various law firms on the table, he selected a far more stable and sensible job as a comedian. Since deciding to pursue his comedian career, Anh has never looked back. He went on to bag every comedy award in town, including Sydney Comedian of the Year, and was soon able to fulfill his lifelong wish of buying his mother a house.

During the period spanning from 2016 to 2021, Anh Do served as the host of the widely watched show titled “Anh’s Brush with Fame,” which aired on ABC-TV. This top-rated program followed a unique format in which Anh Do conducted interviews with notable Australian personalities while simultaneously creating portraits of them.
