In the 2018 Pakistani general election, he was chosen to represent the Pakistan Muslim League (Q) (PML-Q) in the National Assembly of Pakistan from the NA-68 (Gujarat-I) seat. On June 10, 2022, Chaudhary Hussain Elahi did, however, formally resign from the PML-Q. Alleged leaked audio:

He and Chaudhary Wajahat are heard discussing a plan to fake a vote of confidence against Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in an allegedly leaked audio recording of Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PMLQ) leaders.

He may be heard in the audio stating that the Prime Minister (Shehbaz Sharif) will require 173 votes to win the vote of confidence. Mr Hussain Elahi noted that Moonis Elahi served as the PML Q’s legislative leader in the National Assembly.

Hussain Elahi allegedly said in the recorded clip, “They have three lawmakers, and we have two members.”

Additionally, the two leaders talked about how to intimidate Ms Farrukh, a female parliamentarian, so that she would vanish or leave and be unable to cast her vote for Shehbaz Sharif. Hussain Elahi promised to suggest a way for Moonis Bhai to send the female lawmaker on vacation.

He said it would take 10 minutes to “disappear” the female member. Before a potential vote of no confidence against PM Shehbaz, Hussain Elahi even advised “dumping” the female lawmaker from Lahore.

Imran Khan, the leader of the PTI, and Pervaiz Elahi, the chief minister of Punjab, recently made statements in support of a potential vote of confidence in the National Assembly against the prime minister, Shehbaz Sharif.

After consulting with others, I’ll decide to join PTI: Mr Hussain Elahi Chaudhry Hussain Elahi, the PML-Q leader and National Assembly member claimed that he would decide to join PTI after consulting with his family.

In response to a query from the journalist, he stated that Imran Khan would win since more people have decided to vote for him. He also claimed that he would decide whether to join the PTI after consulting with his family.

Mr. Hussain Elahi camp:

Because of their bad past, the Chaudhary Hussain Elahi side, which is essentially led by Moonis, a member of Imran Khan’s cabinet, is adamantly opposed to trusting the Sharifs once more. The Shujaat group, led by Salik and Shafay Hussain, believes that joining Nawaz Sharif’s party will help them “better protect” their political future.

The PML-Q has a long-standing rivalry with the PML-N in the Gujrat and Mandi Bahauddin constituencies, according to a relative of the Chaudhry, and the PML-Q workers wanted their leadership to remain associated with the PTI. So Mr. Chaudhary Hussain Elahi honoured their request and wish.

Speaker Chaudhary Hussain Elahi will represent the PTI as the future chief minister of Punjab if Imran’s rumoured offer is accepted because the party lacks a suitable candidate of the same calibre, particularly in light of the Buzdar experiment’s failure. As the incumbent Hamza Shehbaz has lost the majority in the Punjab Assembly due to the de-seating of 25 PTI MPAs by the ECP due to defection, the speaker is currently a joint candidate of the PTI-PML-Q for the CM’s position if a run-off election is called.

In addition, the PTI leadership has provided Mr Chaudhary Hussain Elahi with the opportunity to nominate candidates in the districts of Gujrat and Mandi Bahauddin following his joining the PTI.

Cousins Moonis, Salik, and Chaudhary Hussain Elahi won the Gujarat (NA-69), Chakwal (NA-65), and Gujrat (NA-68) seats in the 2018 general elections and by-elections, respectively.

Hussain Elahi, a former MNA, rejoins PML-Q after leaving PTI:

According to reports, Wajahat Hussain’s son Hussain Elahi stated that the violence on May 9 was intolerable and that the partnership with the PTI has now been ended.

He claimed that since Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain, president of the PML-Q, is their senior and was introduced to politics by his father Wajahat Hussain, he must follow his decision.

Chaudhry Wajahat Hussain, his father and a former minister, declared that he was ending his support for Pervaiz Elahi, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), due to the violence on May 9.
